Your Instructor

Sonia Lidington (Owner)

My career in the fitness industry began in 1984 with Les Mills. I started Progressive Pilates in 2001 and changed my focus and direction in the health and fitness industry. My passion had always been movement and teaching. As I aged, I felt the drive to find a program that fulfilled this passion as well as benefit my physical and mental wellbeing and Pilates did that for me.

  • "I've been attending Pilates classes at Progressive Pilates since 2001 - it is the best studio in town! Small classes allow the instructors to spend time with each client throughout the classes, to ensure your technique is correct, and they challenge you to push yourself to your limits (and sometimes beyond!)"

  • "18 years ago I sustained a back injury and suffered ongoing back pain and muscle soreness. A friend of mine recommended that I go and see Sonia at Progressive Pilates to see if she could help me manage my back problem better. That was 5 years ago and I have never looked back. Sonia has been able to improve my overall function using Pilates on a weekly basis. She has encouraged and supported me in a very professional friendly manner and I now remain active and look forward to my weekly session with her."

  • "My experience at Progressive Pilates is enjoyable and challenging. The instructors are knowledgeable and keep client safety and comfort as priorities while providing classes that challenge you to develop strength and coordination. The hands on instruction is especially appreciated as it really helps you complete the classes to the best of your ability using correct techniques. I have been attending for almost 3 years and I’m sure my improved overall strength is in the main due to Progressive Pilates"

  • "You guys are the Pilates gurus! Love it. Can really feel the benefits of it with increased activation of my once injured scapular and glutes and hamstrings. Love the cues, happy to be told what to do! It’s my new fave form of exercise after being a gym goer for 35yrs! It’s something I plan to do for ever."

    - Kate R

  • "Have been going to Pilates for approx 20 years. It has helped me in various ways, with hip, knee and back problems. Sonia always finds ways to help with new stretches etc. Love the small classes and the discussions that unfold. Miss my class when I cannot come. I am very happy that the business has grown over the years and Sonia gets a smaller workload to deal with. Would recommend Pilates to everybody."

    - Sonja V

  • "I look forward to my sessions as I know it’s the best thing for me. A good combination of social interaction and knowledgeable, supportive instructors. I highly recommend Progressive Pilates and wish I had started 20 years sooner! Better late than never."

  • "I've been going to Progressive Pilates for over 10 years. I love how it helps my body keep moving and believe it helps reduce the annoying aches and pains that happen with aging. Sonia and team get to know you and your bodies strengths and weaknesses which means you are guided in making the best choices for you during the sessions. I hope to keep enjoying Pilates with them for many more years."
